Living Yoga 200-Hour Teacher Training Course


Who is the course for?

The program is geared for serious yoga practitioners who want to deepen their understanding of Yoga and integrate the philosophies and practices into their everyday lives as well as those aspiring to teach Yoga to others.
Students who complete the 200 HOURS will:

  • Deepen their practice and understanding of yoga
  • Know how to structure and create a cohesive, well-rounded class
  • Acquire an understanding of yoga philosophy
  • Have the possibility of teaching at Living Yoga Johannesburg
  • Have the confidence and tools to begin teaching yoga
  • Be part of the a Yoga community locally and internationally

 

Course Faculty
Sarah Bentz (Director of Living Yoga Johannesburg) will run the program and offer her knowledge in Yoga philosophy (according to the traditional and ancient Yogic texts like Yoga Sutras, The Bhagavad Gita and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika),teach students how to effectively deliver a Yoga class, principles and practice of meditation, the principles of the business of Yoga, how to assist and adjust students in an asana class, and workshops on refining the asanas.

The course will also include other experts in various fields as guest teachers on the program:
Mark Joseph – Buddhism and Yoga and meditation
Mark and Marloes Joseph – Tibetan Heart Yoga
Amanda Pollack – Anatomy
Aryo – Pregnancy Yoga Course
Tegan Burger – Teaching Children Yoga (Workshop introduction to kids yoga)
The 200-Hour program, registered with Yoga Alliance (recognised Internationally), will deepen and build your practice transforming it into something that becomes part of who you are and not simply a class you do a few times a week.

 

Course Requirements
You do not need any experience in teaching yoga, but a regular yoga practice is preferred. Since this course is geared to those wanting to deepen their practice and not necessarily only to teach, it is open to anyone willing to commit fully with their hearts and open minds to the 3 month program.
You will be required to complete 80 hours of yoga practice over the 3 month period.
Attend all lectures (if any are missed they are your own responsibility to catch up with fellow teacher trainers).
Complete a written exam, asana exam and teaching exam as well as assignments during the course.

Textbook
Unlimited Yoga at Living Yoga for the program’s duration
Certification on completion of course

 

Course Dates:
Begins: February 7th 2013
Ends: May 2nd 2013
Every Thursday night 7:30pm and Saturday 11am.

 

Qualification:
Students will also receive a diploma and Letter of Completion that they can use to register with Yoga Alliance at the RYT-200 level and share with prospective employers. Completion of this program will also qualify students to apply for a mentorship program Sarah Bentz or one of the other senior teachers at Living Yoga Johannesburg.
